Royal Decree 1155/2024 , which completely redefines residency permits in Spain , came into effect on May 20, 2025. This decree simplifies requirements and reduces the required stay periods for many foreign nationals seeking to regularize their status. This change is complemented by Instruction SEM 1/2025 from the Ministry of Migration , which standardizes the interpretation of these permits.
